The new whirlpool inverter compressors have three windings, not just two; all three winding's have the exact same resistance the new multi-speed compressors equipped for inverters do not use a start relay overload device, the motor runs off a special voltage produced by the inverter board, the voltage varies in both magnitude and frequency, the higher the frequency, the faster the compressor runs it is variable capacity, variable speed. If you have a Compressor failure check for good input voltages. board will have two different input voltages: - 120 VAC main power supply - 4 to 6 VDC control voltage from the main control board the compressor is pure sign wave frequency not modulated If your
refrigeration system is missing one of these voltages, the board will not run the compressor. The input voltage
will vary. Typically, these compressor specs are 80 to 230 VAC with the frequency ranging anywhere from 57 to
104 Hz. The higher the frequency, the faster the inverter compressor will run.
